My name is Maryann Maletta, and I am proud to be the 5th grade teacher at Santa Sophia Academy. I am originally from New York, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Miami with a minor in Communications. I also received a multiple subject teaching credential from San Diego State University. This is my tenth year teaching in the Diocese of San Diego.

I have a true passion for working with students. Helping each child progress in all areas of their development - academically, socially, and spiritually - is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily. I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures their growth in a positive, fun environment.

Personally, I have been blessed with a beautiful daughter who is 23 years old. She graduated with a degree in Economics from UCLA and works for Capital One in Virginia. I love to travel, cook, hike, go to the theater, music venues and most of all, spend time with family and friends.
