My name is Mrs. Stephanie Adams, and I am so excited to be teaching sixth grade homeroom, Religion, and middle school English Language Arts at Santa Sophia Academy. I am originally from the East Coast and relocated to San Diego with my family through military ties. I am grateful to continue my work in education here in California. Santa Sophia already holds a special place in my heart as my stepson attends school here, and I’ve come to deeply appreciate the faith-filled, welcoming community that makes this school so unique.
I bring over a decade of experience in both general and special education, having taught grades 4–8 in a variety of settings, including private Christian schools and specialized behavioral programs. I earned my B.A. in History with a minor in Law from John Jay College, and later completed my Master’s in Special Education from Liberty University. In addition to my time in the classroom, my professional path has included public service in law enforcement and a long-standing career in arts education. I’ve worked as a teaching artist and performer in dance, theatre, and cultural history throughout New York City’s schools and community arts organizations.
I have always loved the power of words and stories, and I am passionate about helping students discover their voice through reading, writing, and creative expression. I strive to create a learning environment that is faith-centered, supportive, and full of curiosity. Here’s to a wonderful year of learning, growth, and discovery!
